At any time you are doing any illegal activity and it results in the harm or death of another you are 100% liable. Both drivers are now doing prison sentences for their part in the death of spectators. We have a half dozen tracks in short distance of birmingham why not use them? Bama,bailyton,holidaybeach,lassider, steele, MMP, I22, even the crappy prepped ones are better prepped than the street.

They were asking for trouble standing that far down the track/road. I feel bad for the families of the victims, but they should have had better common sense.

This is why there shouldn’t be a lot of spectators, and the ones that are there should all be gathered at the starting line. One guy on each side of the finish line, far enough off the road is good enough to help settle any winner disputes. I’ve heard stories of people lined shoulder to shoulder right down the road and people getting taken out five at a time. Just f-king stupid.
I don’t see the problem here….if you’re stupid enough to stand in front of cars that are this fast, then maybe you’re asking to get plowed? I feel sorry for the families, but stupid people will always find a way to kill themselves one way or another.
